ABOUT
Mary Smania is a Nurse Practitioner and Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery within the College of Nursing. Mary’s research interests include breast cancer and genetics.
Mary received her M.S. in Nursing from Michigan State University and her D.N.P. from the University of Iowa.
RESEARCH
Mary’s research interests include oncology, genetics, breast cancer, and underserved populations. Her recurrent project focuses on breast cancer and community outreach, and involves community outreach with incorporating exercise into survivor programming, communities of color and rural populations. Mary’s work provides breast services to underserved women in Mid-Michigan, an educational survivorship exercise program, and outreach to diverse populations through directed faith-based and community center programming.
