ABOUT

Christina Chan is a University Distinguished Professor and the George Bissell Professor of Chemical Engineering, with joint appointments in the departments of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Computer Science and Engineering. Dr. Chan is also a member of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering’s College of Fellows.

Dr. Chan earned her M.S. and Ph.D. in chemical and biochemical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. She spent eight years at DuPont prior to returning to academia and taking a post-doctoral position at the Center for Engineering in Medicine at Harvard Medical School.

RESEARCH

Dr. Chan’s research is focused on understanding the signaling and regulatory mechanisms that are altered in diseases, such as obesity, Alzheimer’s disease, and cancer. The Chan Lab develops and applies metabolic engineering and systems biology approaches to identify targets and disease biomarkers. Their group also develops polymeric-based drug delivery and tissue engineering platforms to modulate these pathways for treating these diseases.
