KAREN LIBY

ABOUT

Karen Liby is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. Her research focuses on the role of inflammation in cancer.

Dr. Liby received her Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She completed her postdoctoral training at Dartmouth Medical School and subsequently joined the Dartmouth faculty as an Assistant Professor. She was promoted to an Associate Professor at Dartmouth prior to joining MSU.

RESEARCH

Dr. Liby’s research investigates the role of inflammation in cancer and aims to develop and test new drugs for the prevention or treatment of cancer and other chronic diseases. Lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, and a subset of breast cancer (estrogen receptor-negative or ER-) are three of the leading causes of cancer death, and the Liby Lab uses the most relevant mouse models available to study the development of these three cancers and to test new drugs.
