ABOUT

Xuefei Huang is a Professor in the Departments of Biomedical Engineering and Chemistry. Dr. Huang’s research integrates biology, chemistry, and engineering to develop next-generation tools for diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

Dr. Huang is a graduate of the University of Science and Technology of China and earned his Ph.D. from Columbia University. Prior to joining MSU in 2008, Dr. Huang held appointments at the University of Toledo and Columbia University. He is also the Associate Chair for Research in MSU’s Department of Chemistry.

RESEARCH

The major emphasis of the Huang Lab’s research is on chemistry and biology of carbohydrates. Building on synthetic chemistry expertise, the lab takes a multi-disciplinary approach to study this important class of molecules. Dr. Huang’s research encompasses synthesis, molecular imaging and targeted drug delivery aided by nanoparticles, as well as targeting cell surface carbohydrate structures for the development of novel immunotherapies against cancer.
