ABOUT

Mat Reeves is a Professor in the Department Epidemiology and Biostatistics. His research incorporates the quantitative aspects of epidemiology with disease prevention and public health.

Dr. Reeves received his M.S. in clinical studies from Colorado State University and his Ph.D. in Epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining MSU, Dr. Reeves was the Director of the Division of Epidemiology Services at the Michigan Department of Community Health.

RESEARCH

Dr. Reeves’ research interests focus on improving care and outcome for stroke patients. His work includes the development of hospital-based stroke registries designed to monitor and improve care of acute stroke patients. He is also interested in improving transitional care for stroke patients and caregivers who return home following hospitalization. Dr. Reeves also examines sex differences in stroke outcomes, including the differences between men and women in functional outcomes, recovery, QOL, and access to acute care treatments. He has contributed to cohort studies on cancer mortality and is a past member of lung cancer control and colorectal cancer control advisory boards for the Michigan Department of Community Health.
