ABOUT

Kin Sing Stephen Lee is an Associate Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology. Dr. Lee’s research focuses on investigating the molecular mechanisms on how dietary lipids affect human health and human responses to environmental toxicants.

Dr. Lee received his Ph.D. from Michigan State University, and completed his postdoctoral training at the University of California at Davis.

RESEARCH

Dr. Lee studies the molecular underpinnings of how the omega-3 to omega-6 ratio in our diet affects human diseases. The omega-3 and omega-6 epoxides, which are the major metabolites of the lipids, play a critical role in inflammation and cancer. The Lee lab is currently designing and synthesizing the mimics of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acid epoxides. In addition, Dr. Lee uses targeted metabolic approaches to identify lipid mediators as biomarkers for diseases, including cancer. The ultimate goal of Dr. Lee’s research group is to improve human health through understanding the mechanisms behind biology effects induced by dietary lipids.
